About

In the aerospace industry more than in any other market, dealing with a computer attack after it has happened can have disastrous consequences. However, attack prevention is very complex, as the sheer volume of digital components, software modules and interconnects to be protected is beyond the capabilities of most engineering teams. In fact, most tools currently in use do not identify potential risks during the early stages of design. Therefore, safety assessment is laborious and ultimately very expensive. Engineers have to fix problems at the prototype stage, which can significantly delay the development of the aircraft and slow its time to market.

Recently, following a wave of cyber-attacks, several government agencies in the United States have begun to impose cybersecurity certification standards on their major suppliers and supply chains. Obtaining these certifications becomes mandatory for any company that wishes to continue to be in the supply chain of government agencies.

Aéro Montréal and In-Sec-M are collaborating on a cybersecurity training and support initiative for companies in the aerospace sector in Quebec. This initiative will enable aerospace SMEs to equip themselves with tools to better manage the risks associated with cybersecurity while allowing them to obtain and maintain the accreditations required by Canadian and American governments and contractors.

In addition to the various training and support services, this initiative offers a portal that provides access to:

  • Resources about best practices in cybersecurity;
  • Detailed information on current certifications and standards;
  • Access to a directory of Quebec and Canadian companies offering Quebec and Canadian cybersecurity solutions and services, with the ability to do advanced searches;
  • A list of external public and private resources;
  • Alerts transmitted by the Communications Security Establishment (CSE);
  • News and business opportunities related to cybersecurity;
  • Direct access to SDQuébec members to allow them to access the cybersecurity portal in network mode, without having to log into a separate account;
  • Self-diagnostic tools to assess the level of business risk.
